Founding Customer Success Manager · onsite loop, Jul 24 2026
Can they describe a customer’s day without translating it into software terms?
“She walked me through a front desk morning minute by minute — check-in, phone, insurance question, phone again. She has clearly stood behind one.”Priya Wendt
“When I described our recovery board she asked who was standing at the desk when it is used. Nobody has asked me that in an interview.”Mara Chen
Do they leave a call with owners and dates, and do they follow up unprompted?
“Her example close was “I send the summary same day, two actions, one date each.” She then did exactly that after our call, unprompted.”Priya Wendt
“Slightly light on how she tracks accounts at scale — described a spreadsheet, not a system. Fine for now, a gap at eighty clinics.”Mara Chen
How do they respond when we push back on something they said?
“I disagreed with her escalation approach. She asked two questions, conceded one point, and held the other with a better reason than her first.”Mara Chen
“Asked for feedback at the end of the working session and wrote it down. Then referenced it in her follow-up note.”Priya Wendt
Would we be comfortable with them writing to a customer unsupervised on day two?
“Her writing sample was 140 words explaining a billing error and it contained an apology, a cause, and a date. Nothing else.”Priya Wendt
“Follow-up note after the interview was three sentences and answered the one thing we had left open.”Mara Chen
With no playbook and no team, do they start or do they wait?
“Asked what our onboarding process is. When I said it is mostly in Priya’s head, she offered to write it down in her first month.”Mara Chen
“Slight preference for confirming before acting. In a founding role that will cost us a week occasionally.”Priya Wendt
Both interviewers were asked explicitly for concerns about integrity, respect, or candour, and both recorded none. The gaps noted under operational rigour and ownership are development areas, not flags, and are reflected in the scores above.
Jordan scores at or above bar on all five dimensions, with clear strength in customer empathy and written clarity — the two things this role lives on. Her writing sample and her follow-up note were both better than what we currently send, which is the specific test we set for “raises bar”.
The two threes are honest. She tracks accounts in a spreadsheet rather than a system, and she prefers to confirm before acting. In a founding role the second one matters more, and we should say so plainly in the offer conversation: for the first ninety days we would rather she acted and told us afterwards.
Recommendation is unanimous across both interviewers. Offer at $112,000 with 0.45% equity, and pair her with Priya for the first month specifically to build the onboarding document she volunteered to write.
